Our "real" domain, Refreshsandiego.org, was recently hijacked after we neglected to renew the domain and the grace period expired.
We're not entirely sure if we have recourse. It may be worth pursuing as the previous domain had a fairly high pagerank and has been around for quite some time.
Here is info on ICANN domain dispute resolution: http://www.icann.org/udrp/udrp.htm
The condition under which we may be able to get the domain back is as follows:
(iv) by using the domain
name, you have intentionally attempted to attract, for commercial
gain, Internet users to your web site or other on-line location,
by creating a likelihood of confusion with the complainant's
mark as to the source, sponsorship, affiliation, or endorsement
of your web site or location or of a product or service on your
web site or location.
Maybe we can get a discussion going on whether we want to pursue this option.

we have the contact
we have the contact information of the person who registered our domain.
